Holar Luxury Lodge

Holar is situated in the southwestern corner of Iceland in the locality of Stóramörk close to one of Iceland’s most visited waterfalls, Skógafoss and Eyjafjallajökull, the infamous volcano responsible for the 2010 air traffic disruptions. The property, spanning over 300 square meters of open plan living, has four en-suite bedrooms, a fifth bedroom with twin beds, a formal living room, relaxed lounge/TV room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Facilities include flat screen television, floor heating throughout and built in surround sound stereo system.

Stunning rustic countryside views are enjoyed from the extensive surrounding veranda sand an outdoor BBQ and Jacuzzi, large enough for the whole family, are part of entertaining outdoors.

    The Holar residence is unique in that the villa has no minimum nightly rental,so stay overnight or for a week and breakfast is included in your package,perfectly prepared by the owners of the property.

    Similarly dinners can be arranged given 24 hours notice and are aimed to let you sample some typical Icelandic gourmet “home cooking” with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. This is a highlight in itself for many guests staying at the Holar as it gives individuals an insight into the Icelandic way oflife and provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends.

    Alternatively one of Iceland’s outstanding chefs can be engaged to take you on a culinary journey for the whole or part of your stay.

    Holar boasts two king size and two double size bedrooms all with their own en suites. A further fifth bedroom provides two single beds. Rooms have been tastefully decorated with original art works and appointed with quality bedding and linen.

    A short stroll from the main house and hidden from view is a 60 square cottage comprising two bedrooms, bathroom and small kitchen, ideal for extra guests, service staff, personal chef or trainer, nanny or body guard. The cottage may be rented at an additional charge.

    The Holar residence is ideally located to explore many of southern Iceland’s “must see”attractions including: the Westman Islands, a small archipelago off the south coast, with daily ferries to the largest island Heimaey, a great location to see puffins in the summer;the Skógar Museum, see how the Icelanders lived in the past in small turf houses and learn the history of Icelandic inhabitants; Skogáfoss the beautiful 60-meter high waterfall in the river Skógá, where salmon and char fishing below the waterfall is popular in July-October; and the magical Thorsmork nature reserve, a beautiful wilderness area flanked by impressive volcanoes and glacial rivers, offering endless opportunities for hiking, adventures and breathtaking scenery. The volcanic desert scenery of the central highlands, Landmannalaugar, with its natural hot springs, unusual multi colored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields and the black sand beaches around Vik are further interesting locations for day tripping from Holar.
