As we bid farewell to 2020 and look forward to 2021, we are launching a new section on our website.
Questions about Covid-19 in Iceland — to cover news and issues related to travel in Iceland post Covid-19.
We feel fortunate that Iceland has so far handled the pandemic relatively well. Our borders have remained open to European travelers throughout the pandemic and recently our government announced that restrictions at the border will be lifted almost entirely in June, when 60-70% of the population will have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
After a difficult year, we sense a universal need to be outdoors, active, and invigorated by natural beauty. Travelers from all over the world are looking for open spaces, fresh air, walking routes, cycling trails, and outdoor activities of every kind. By this measure, Iceland — which has the lowest population density in Europe — scores very well indeed.
Brighter days are ahead, and we are optimistic about Iceland’s prospects once travel restrictions have been lifted.
