Today, your private expert guide and vehicle will pick you up. Start the day with a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the location of Iceland´s Parliament between the years 930 and 1798. Thingvellir is also one of the few places in the world where you can see the effects of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates pulling apart, clearly visible in Almannagja or Everyman's Gorge. For lunch, we stop at a working dairy farm. Visit the cows, chickens, and other farm animals before having lunch in the unique restaurant, where they offer organic food grown on their farm or on nearby farms. After lunch, we explore the erupting hot springs area Geysir, the place giving its name to the phenomenon worldwide. From here, a 10-minute drive takes us to Gullfoss, or Golden Falls, Iceland’s most famous waterfall. In the afternoon, check into your charming country hotel where you will stay for 4 nights.

Day 4, Westman Islands:
This morning we´ll drive to Landeyjarhöfn harbor and take the car ferry to the Heimaey, one of the Westman Islands just off the south coast of Iceland, and the largest nesting ground of the N-Atlantic puffin. Heimaey was the site of a massive volcanic eruption in 1973 that buried almost a third of the town under lava and the rest under ash and pumice. It has since recovered and is now one of Iceland’s most successful fishing ports. Here, you will go on an exciting RIB safari sailing tour around the islands, into caves and along sea cliffs. After lunch, go on an easy hike up to the top of Mt Eldfjall (Fire mountain) -- the mountain that was born after volcanic eruption of 1973. The lava rocks at the top are still steaming. See the remains of houses buried underneath the lava flow in what is now known as the Pompei of the North. Return to the mainland via car ferry in the late afternoon.
